Be In Your Body

On the Island we are encouraged to find a way that suits us, to help us bring awareness to the body we each inhabit.  This body that enables us to be in the world.  Movement, sport or exercise might be the way to do this.  If we do that, then it is helpful not just to move our body about, but also to bring awareness to that movement, and sensation.

The Monsters, Compañeros and Criatura suggest that we might want to dance, do a martial art, Yoga or Tai Chi, or a body relaxation.  Or we could connect with our body by exfoliating or massaging our skin.

They say, it can be helpful to bring awareness to all the funny little sensations that go on inside our body – whether they are pleasant, unpleasant, odd, confusing, or some other quality.  Perhaps to recognise that some of those sensations connect to our thoughts and feelings.

They say, remember that there is a lot going on in there.  There are all sorts of organs and materials that keep ticking over to keep us alive.

The creatures reckon that doing things like this can also help us appreciate and our body, be grateful for the bits that work and serve us well, and to try take care of it as best we can.
